Located in a cozy corner in the heart of Galston, welcome to our relaxed, inclusive, fun and friendly Yoga Studio, where you can come as you are and leave with a little more zen in your step.

Over seven weeks there are seven different themes explore - Legs, Chest, Hips, Twisting, Shoulders and Core, Balance, and Restorative, with all classes featuring both strengthening and stretching poses. There is no beginning or end - join in at any stage! Each class is designed to be suitable for every body, with modifications and variations to suit any experience or ability level.

During class as you move through different poses you will learn about ways to improve your alignment and build upon your strength and flexibility safely. These handy tips and subtle changes are useful not only within your own yoga practice and gym sessions, but will be helpful for your general posture and functional movement in other everyday life activities too.

Each class always includes time for meditation to grow our focus and clarity, increase body/mind awareness, and recharge after the physically challenging asana practice. Each session concludes by bringing to mind one thing we are grateful for today, so we can continue our day with love and kindness to others, and more importantly, ourselves. There is always time for questions or additional help afterwards too.

Private Classes

Private, or small group yoga classes are available at our Yoga Studio in Galston, or home visits can also be arranged.

Private Yoga classes can be for yourself, or can include a small group such as your partner, or a couple of friends or family members and are a great way to create a solid foundation of Yoga, whether you are an experienced Yogi, or never tried a class before, a private class can be a great way to improve and learn safely, and get the personal attention that might be hard to achieve in bigger group classes.

After discussing your requirements and finding a suitable day & time, Katie will design a Yoga class specifically for you, taking into account all ability levels, any injuries, and areas of interest or special requests. Never tried a Yoga class before? Let’s start from the beginning! Maybe you want to learn how to do a headstand safely? No problem. Want to have a restorative class and focus on stretching and loosening up your body? Awesome. Want some extra time for Meditation and breathing exercises? We can do that too! The theme can be up to you, or Katie can design a class, or series of classes that you will love to balance out your body and mind.

Corporate Classes

Are you looking to start a health and wellness initiative within your workplace? Reduce stress, reduce pain, and increase happiness and productivity. Happy staff = happy business! I can come to your workplace before, during, or after hours and provide stressed employees some much-needed zen.

Katie answers your most frequently asked Yoga questions

  • What do I bring?

Please bring your own Yoga mat, water bottle, and 2 x blocks (due to covid no shared props are available).

  • What should I wear for Yoga?

In short - anything you want! Anything that you can comfortably move in is ideal. Whether that’s the latest Yoga fashion/active wear, your 15 year old track pants, tights, tshirts, tank tops, crop tops, shorts, pjs, a onesie, as long as you can move easily and be comfortable that’s all that matters!

  • What are your Yoga classes like?

Each class begins with an opening meditation to calm and center yourself to get ready for your practice, followed by a quick warm up to prepare for our class theme, then the main theme of the class, then a short cool down before settling into our final meditation and rest (everyone’s favourite part!) - savasana.

  • Am I strong enough/flexible enough/awesome enough to do your Yoga classes?

Yes you are! All classes have a range of modifications/variations to suit any ability level so you can feel good about challenging yourself, no matter where you are at physically or fitness wise. If you have a specific injury limiting your movement I’m always happy to discuss alternate poses, or ways you can still make the most of each class.

  • What if I have never done a Yoga class before?

Perfect! I love helping people start from the beginning to build up the basics for a solid and life long Yoga practice. If you have any specific injuries or restrictions don’t hesitate to let me know so I can give you specific modifications or variations based on your ability. I’ve also got some really handy pose guides on my blog which you can read to give you a break down of how to do common poses, common mistakes and how to nail your alignment no matter what.

  • Do I need to spend a lot of money on Yoga equipment/props?

Unfortunately due to covid I am no longer allowing shared use of props in class. Ideally you will need a Yoga mat, 2 x blocks and sometimes a strap. I also love love love my bolster, and knee cushions are great for anyone with sensitive knees that need a bit more support/padding, and an eye pillow can also make our final savasana/meditation a complete dream, but you can still successfully do the class without those extra props. A Yoga mat is at least the very minimum required, blocks and straps are not strictly required, but they sure do help make poses more accessible, or sometimes more challenging! I would highly recommend grabbing 2 x blocks, (I picked up a couple of blocks from Kmart for $5 each - and they came with a strap!) all my other Yoga props, bolsters etc I have collected over the years, (hello Christmas present ideas) and although I love including them in my own practice, I practiced for years without them, in short - if it’s not in your budget forget the extra props and just bring a mat and yourself.

  • I have a favourite pose I want to learn how to do, can I make requests?

Of course! While looking a certain way, or getting into certain positions isn’t necessarily the purpose of Yoga or my Yoga classes, it’s important to have goals to help motivate you to get on your mat too, so you can experience the multitude of benefits that a well rounded Yoga practice has to offer. If there is a certain pose you want to work towards let me know, and we can discuss how to build towards it safely, while focusing on the strength or flexibility to get you there. It took me 3 years to go from being scared of being upside down and telling myself I couldn’t do it, to feeling comfortable and at ease doing a headstand in the middle of a room, so I can’t guarantee it will happen overnight, but I am more than happy to show you the steps to get there, whether it’s nailing a headstand, or touching your toes, no goal is too big or small.
